who we are
Sounding Out is a collective of talented, emerging Brisbane-based composers begun in 2008. By bringing together young composers and musicians, and creating new performance opportunities, the Sounding Out Composers’ Collective (SOCC) aims at fostering the professional and artistic development of promising young composers. The primary goal of SOCC is to inspire the next generation of Australian composers to be more active in the national musical culture, by providing opportunities for composers working in diverse styles, media and musical traditions.
